About Us

The Donside Group of churches are Episcopal Churches situated across an area of Aberdeenshire north and west of the city and includes:

  • St Mary’s Church, Auchindoir located by the village of Rhynie
  • St Mary’s Church in the town of Inverurie
  • St Anne’s Church in the village of Kemnay
  • All Saints’ Church in the hamlet of Whiterashes.

The group is named after the River Don which flows from the Grampian hills through a number of Aberdeenshire towns, including Kemnay and Inverurie, where it joins its main tributary, the River Ury.  The river joins the North Sea on the north side of Aberdeen City.

We work to provide strong links between our congregations – each with its own variety of worship and different liturgical approach to serve our varied communities. The Group’s arrangements are governed by a Memorandum of Understanding, which sets out the basis on which the churches operate together, including agreed contributions to the necessary financial arrangements.

The group also works together to share facilities and resources where appropriate.  For example, during the Covid pandemic, the group recognised the need for specific IT support to help develop its online presence and worship and so agreed to employ a part-time Digital Missioner for that purpose.

All of our churches are supported by our ministry team who, with others in our congregations, work together to maintain and develop the worship and the mission of of our churches within each of the communities we serve.
